Canyon Lights at Capilano Suspension Bridge in North Vancouver

Capilano Suspension Bridge Park is a world-famous tourist attraction. In early winter it’s open at night for its Canyon Lights Christmas attraction.

Running from late November to mid-January, Canyon Lights is one of the most enchanting holiday experiences in Metro Vancouver. During the Christmas season, Capilano Suspension Bridge Park transforms into a glowing forest of lights, turning towering evergreens, cliff pathways, and the famous suspension bridge into a breathtaking outdoor wonderland. Visiting the park at night during Canyon Lights is easily one of the most memorable ways to experience this iconic North Vancouver attraction.

The 2025–2026 season of Canyon Lights runs from November 21, 2025, to January 18, 2026.

Why Canyon Lights Is So Special

With hundreds of thousands of lights illuminating the rainforest, walkways and canyon below, Canyon Lights offers an atmosphere unlike any other holiday attraction in the Lower Mainland. The lighting design is artistic and subtle, enhancing the natural setting rather than overwhelming it. Even the approach to the entrance sparkles with colour, giving visitors an early preview of the magic ahead.

Couples often call it one of the most romantic Christmas light displays in Vancouver, and families love the mix of adventure, beauty and festive decorations. Walking across the suspension bridge at night while the canyon glows in shifting shades of colour is an unforgettable highlight.

Location & Parking

Canyon Lights takes place at Capilano Suspension Bridge Park, located at 3735 Capilano Road in North Vancouver. It’s just minutes from the Cleveland Dam, Grouse Mountain and other North Shore parks and places of interest.

Paid parking is available in lots directly across from the park, with additional street parking in the neighbourhood surrounding Ridgewood Drive and Capilano Crescent. Spaces fill up quickly during peak evenings, so arriving about an hour before dusk is ideal. This lets you enjoy the scenery in daylight and watch the park transition into its illuminated nighttime display.

On especially busy nights, there is additional supplementary parking at a school and shopping centre with a shuttle bus service to and from the attraction. There is also a free Capilano Bridge bus from downtown Vancouver.

Event Dates & Hours for 2025–2026

Canyon Lights runs from November 21, 2025, to January 18, 2026. It’s open daily except for Christmas Day.

The park welcomes visitors from 11:00 am to 9:00 pm, with the light displays beginning in the late afternoon around sunset (usually between around 3:30 and 4:30 pm).

Treetops Adventure

Walk high among the Douglas firs along a series of elevated walkways. During Canyon Lights, these bridges are wrapped in warm, elegant lights that create a magical floating-lantern effect.

Cliffwalk

This curved walkway clings to the cliffside and is lit beautifully for the season. It offers spectacular views of the canyon and the lights from above. At the end of the Cliffwalk, you go up a long set of stairs where you’ll find a garden with beautiful light displays.

The Pond & Light Displays

One of the most photogenic parts of the park, the pond sparkles with ornament-like orbs and reflections—perfect for holiday photos.

Family Activities

Families can enjoy seasonal crafts and themed displays. A highlight for younger visitors especially is the Snowy Owl Prowl, a search-and-find activity where lighted owl figures are hidden throughout the park. Guests can count them and enter their guesses for a chance to win a prize in the New Year. Some owls are easy to spot, while others are cleverly tucked away, making it fun for both kids and adults.

Dining & Hot Drinks

Warm up with hot chocolate, snacks, or casual meals at the onsite eateries. The Cliff House Restaurant also offers classic West Coast dining in a beautiful setting, overlooking the forest during the day and surrounded by lights at night.
